COVID-19 Catch-up Premium
Following the school closures of 2020, the Government has allocated £650 million to schools in the form of a catch-up premium. This funding is intended to assist schools in mitigating the effects of the disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic in terms of academic progress and social and emotional wellbeing.
Schools’ allocations are calculated on a per pupil basis, providing each mainstream school with £80 for each pupil in reception through to year 11. The grant will only be available for the 2020-21 academic year.
Each school should spend the funding in a way that supports their own individual needs. At Priory Pembroke we shall follow guidance set out by the Education Endowment Foundation in its publication ‘the EEF guide to supporting school planning’. As such we are adopting a tiered approach, allocating the funding in the following three areas; teaching; targeted academic support; wider strategies.
