Year 6 Transition to Pembroke

Every year we are delighted to welcome new students as they join us at Pembroke Academy and become part of the Pembroke community.

We understand that the transition process from primary to secondary education can be a daunting experience. We want to reassure you that we will assist you in any way we can to ensure all students arrive excited and fully informed about the next chapter of their education.  From a dedicated Head of House and Inclusion Officer to additional support as students settle in, we ensure our new year 7 cohort are happy and thriving.

Please use the below links to help with the transition process -

Priory Pembroke Uniform

All the information regarding the Priory Pembroke Uniform you require is available in this Uniform Guide link.

Uniform Direct will be offering late night opening at their store at Dixon Way, Lincoln until 8.00pm from Tuesday 7th July to Thursday 10th July inclusive, and the staff there will be more than happy to help you with any queries. There will also be information from Uniform Direct available at the parent information evening on Thursday 3rd July 2025.

The cost of school uniform can be a considerable financial burden for families, so we are working with The Vine Church Uniform Exchange which offers good condition, freshly washed pre-loved Pembroke uniform, free of charge.  The Vine Uniform exchange can be contacted on uniform@thevinecommunitychurch.org.uk

Admissions Pack

On receipt of you accepting your place at Pembroke Academy, you received an admissions pack, which included a letter along with several administrative documents. Please ensure that those documents are completed in full and sent back to Mrs Garner as soon as possible. These include the Student entry form, photography and videos consent form and the pupils privacy notice.

Student and parent / carer events

Before students arrive in September, we aim to make contact in a number of different ways.

Primary School Visits: Throughout June until early July, members of the Pembroke staff will visit each child at their current primary school These visits are always seen as a key moment in the transition process, where each child meets at least one member of the Pembroke team face to face and provides an opportunity for each child to ask any questions they may have about life at Pembroke.

‘All About Me’: You will also receive a transition activity booklet for your child to work through and return to us. A copy of the booklet can be found in the link All about me booklet.  This enables your child’s form tutor and Head of House to learn more about them before starting with us in September. The booklet includes an opportunity for parents and carers to add any additional information you would like the Academy to be aware of as we prepare for September.  We would be most grateful if you could post this back for the attention of Mrs Garner once completed or drop it off at our Main Reception by Monday 23rd June.

Transition Day: On Thursday 3rd July, every Year 6 who has received and accepted a place at Pembroke Academy will be invited to a transition day.  This day will allow students to experience a day at the Academy: meeting their new Head of House, form tutor and classmates, taking part in various lessons and trying out the Pembroke Diner.  Lunch will be provided to all Year 6 students on this day.

Parent information Evening: After an exciting transition day, Parents and Carers will be invited to attend an information evening between 6-7.30pm on Thursday 3rd July.  This event will provide an opportunity to learn more about life at Pembroke Academy and what both you and your child can expect.  The Headteacher and Pembroke Academy staff and students will give a talk at 6.30pm in the main hall.  There will also be an opportunity to meet your child’s form tutor and Head of House, the SENDCo and Safeguarding lead.

We look forward to working with you all.
