#HotChocFri

Hot Chocolate Friday has been going for almost a year now.

Each week students from one particular year group are nominated by staff for displaying one of the Academy values in some way. They are then shortlisted and receive a lovely break time treat of hot chocolate and a cookie with Mr Evans our Headteacher. Mr Evans welcomes the students into his office and has a chat with them about their week. He asks them if they know who has nominated them, whether they guess or not, he then reads the email that member of staff has sent to him about their achievements. It's truly personal and wonderful to see the children look surprised, humbled and proud all at the same time.

This is part of our rewards system and is also a national initiative devised by Paul Dix and his book 'When Adults Change, Everything Changes'. In fact each week when we tweet our successful Hot Chocolate Friday students, we are one of many schools who do the same. Allover the country, each Friday students in both primary and secondary schools are using this reward idea as part of their praise system, its great to see each week.

We have recently written about this for Paul Dix and an article he is writing for the Times Educational Supplement and the Trust's newspaper 'The Priory Star'.
